These are simple activities that will support your child's learning no matter what.  By routinely repeating these over and over again these key learning focuses will help embed the vital skills that will seriously assist your child's academic progress.

He aha ngā mahi? (kupu mahi).

Ko wai kei roto i te pūrākau?

Tā pikitia e pā ana ki te mea pai ki a koe.

He aha kupu e mohio ana koe te tuhi ki roto i te pūrākau?

Read and sing through the Māori alphabet below until your child has instant recognition of all letters.

Read and sing through the Māori consonant-vowel blend chart below.  Your child  needs this skill to sound out words when reading and writing.

Ensure your can write their name, for obvious reasons but also they need to be able to do this for some of their log on's.

Watch Te Waiata Pū  below and set aside some time to practice letter writing.

Collect items from nature and make sets of numbers 1 to 20 or more.  Make some number cards and match the  number to each set.

Read, read and read some more, preferably pukapuka Māori!

Kori tīnana - If you can, get lots of fresh air and some exercise whenever you can.

2 + 3 = 5

Te wharangi kuoro; Putting kūoro together to make kupu waiwai.

Pānui

Uhi ō mua.  Te ingoa o te pukapuka.  Pānui ia rangi, me ngā pātai.
