Te Hinonga Atawhai / The Kindness Project
Te Kura Amorangi o Whakawātea signed up for and adopted and translated, a character building focused version of KiVa a renowned anti-bullying programme that originated in Finland. Our team has completed two rounds of PLD to learn the main aspects of KiVa but rather than focus on anti-bullying we use it to develop the attributes it invokes. Learning about kindness, being respectful, how to develop and nurture positive relationships, being a good or at the very least, an appropriate class or kura mate to others. Above all else the aim is that Te Hinonga Atawhai / The Kindness Project develops and embeds behaviours that are kind, respectful and appropriate because in an environment that grows these attributes there is no space for bullying - it can't and doesn't exist.

SOCIAL MEDIA AGE LIMITS
Remember: Our students should not have accounts on Facebook, Tik Tok, YouTube, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter and others but we are aware some do. For most of these they are not eligible until they are 13 yrs old, meaning not only should they not be on these platforms but, they have obviously lied in order to have these accounts. They shouldn’t be accessing these at their ages as they are then exposed to all sorts of content that is difficult for them to cope with and for you as parents to monitor. The Whatsapp age restriction is 16yrs.
